The update 1.5 (which android users received recently unlike PC and console players) brought a new area to the game called Ginger Island. Concerned Ape first hinted at the expansion with an in-game movie “Natural Wonders-Exploring Our Vibrant World”, and then soon he added it to the game.
New areas, quests, NPCs, crops, fruit trees, a dungeon, a farm, and an enchanting system are one of the many things that came with Ginger Island.
As I mentioned, with this expansion came a new Island farm that has the same mechanic as the Greenhouse. Every crop can grow there, no matter the season, and that screams “profit”:
So today you will learn how to maximize profits on Ginger Island with Ancient Fruit and other beneficial crops.
How to Obtain and Plant Ancient Seeds
First of all, there is a difference between Ancient Seeds and the Ancient Seed. The Ancient Seed is the artifact you can get by digging artifact spots, slaying monsters, fishing treasures, and opening artifact troves.
Once you donate the Ancient Seed to the museum, Gunther will give you a recipe to craft Ancient Seeds by using one Ancient Seed.
That’s the one way to obtain Ancient Seeds. You can also buy it from a traveling merchant for 100-1,000 gold, and make it with Seed Maker.
You can plant Ancient Seeds through Spring, Summer, and Fall. It takes 28 days for it to fully grow.
Ginger Island Farm
On the western part of Ginger Island lies an abandoned and ruined farm that you can repair for 20 golden walnuts. You can build a mailbox for 5 walnuts, and the Farm Obelisk for 20 more. The Farm Obelisk is really important because it saves you a lot of time that you would spend going back to the Pelican Town, as it will simply teleport you back to your farm.
Best Crops to Grow on Ginger Island
As the Ginger Island farm doesn’t have limitations, you can make a great profit throughout the year. There are a lot of good crops that are good for the Island farm and as a veteran player, I made a tier list for you.
The best crops to grow on the Island Farm are
- Ancient Fruit
- Starfruit
- Cranberries
- Pineapple
After those crops, the best ones are:
- Blueberry
- Fairy Rose
- Pumpkin
- Melon
- Corn
- Hops
- Strawberry
- Wheat
The rest of them are not so good for the Island farm. However, if you need any of the crops for a recipe or special request, and they are out of season, you can just plant them on the Island Farm.
Or if you don’t have S or A tier crops at needed moment, B tier crops will do the job.
S Ttier Crops Comparison
To compare the best ones, I’ll use 6 factors.
- Does it reproduce
- Growth Time
- Drop Number
- Crop Price
- Fermented Price
- Juice or Wine price
Keep in mind that for artisan goods the lowest price is the lowest possible without Artisian skill, and the highest is with Artisian skill.
Crop | Reproduce | Growth Time | Drop number | Price per drop | Fermented Price | Juice/Wine Price |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Ancient Fruit | Every 7 days | 28 days | 1 | 550- 1,250g | 1,150- 1,610g | 1,650- 4,620g |
Starfruit | No | 13 days | 1 | 750- 1,650g | 1,550- 2,720g | 2,250- 6,300g |
Cranberries | Every 5 days | 7 days | 2–3 | 75- 165g | 200–280g | 225- 630g |
Pineapple | Every 7 days | 14 days | 1 | 300- 660g | 650–910g | 900- 2,520g |
In the end, everything depends on you and how you want to sell the crops (raw or processed).
If you want to use processing machines, just place them on the grass around the farm, and slap in there whatever you want.
Strategies For the Island Farm
You can have a good passive income on the Island farm, without having to visit it every day. To achieve this, you’ll need help from one friend, the Sprinkler.
But first things first. Don’t use the whole space on the farm if you want to collect artifacts because there are artifact spots there. Also, leave some space for Banana and Mango trees because they are extremely valuable; especially Bananas because they are needed for the Island Obelisk and the bird trader.
Get a bunch of Iridium or Quality sprinklers, and plan out the farm layout.
If you are low on Ancient Seeds, plant Starfruits until you get more of them as Starfruits won’t regrow.
Use my “plant, grow, reproduce” technique. You can do this if you have either one or more ancient fruits. First, get some Seed Makers (if you have one Ancient Fruit plant, one Seed Maker will do, then gradually increase Seed Maker’s number), and put Ancient Fruit in there to generate more seeds. As the Ancient Fruit will grow again in seven days you can do this an infinite number of times. If you want to have a whole Ancient Fruit farm, just stick to this method. Of course, you don’t have to grind Seeds only, keep half or ⅔ of fruits for selling or making artisan goods.
If you’re looking for the best option for Ancient Fruits, I recommend putting them in kegs on your Island farm, regardless of whether you have a winery on your regular farm. This will help you earn the most profit, although it may take some time for the process to complete. However, since you’re not relying solely on this method, as you are probably at least in your second year, the wait time shouldn’t be an issue.
Conclusion
The Ancient fruit is one of the most profitable crops in the game, and now you are ready to become the richest person in Pelican Town.
