Hello, friends! Recently, some of you have been asking about raising blue chickens in Stardew Valley, so in this tutorial, we’ve put together some information on the topic for those who are interested.
In Stardew Valley, there are five different chicken colors: white, brown, blue, black, and gold. Blue chickens, besides their color, are essentially the same as white and brown chickens.
How do you raise a blue chicken?
It takes three days for the chick to mature, and after that, it will produce one egg every morning. However, the eggs laid by blue chickens are not blue but are randomly either white or brown.
So, how do you unlock blue chickens?
First, you need to reach an eight-heart friendship level with Shane. When Shane is at home, usually on weekends, visit Marnie’s Ranch to trigger the eight-heart event. Following Jas into the kitchen’s backdoor, you’ll find Shane secretly raising a flock of blue chickens.
After triggering this event, blue chickens will become unlockable. There are two ways to obtain blue chickens.
- Purchasing them from Marnie, where there is a 1/4 chance of getting a blue chicken. When buying, the color of the chicken will be displayed at the top of your screen. If it’s not blue, you can exit and re-enter until a blue chicken is displayed before making the purchase.
- Hatching white or brown eggs in the coop. There is a 1/4 chance of hatching a blue chicken. If you don’t hatch a blue chicken, don’t worry – you can still reload your save file, re-enter the coop, and refresh the chick’s color until it turns blue.
That’s all for this tutorial. Happy farming, and good luck with your blue chickens!
