Navigating Time and Distance in Stardew Valley: A Comprehensive Guide
Travel time depends on the farm map, exact start and finish tiles, route, obstacles, player speed, horse/minecart use, menus and game version. The single-minute values below are rough one-player readings, not universal Stardew Valley 1.6.15 benchmarks.
How to use the recorded estimates
| Recorded route | Recorded value | Evidence status |
|---|---|---|
| Farmhouse to Pierre’s counter | 26 minutes | One-player approximation; farm map and endpoints were not preserved. |
| Farmhouse to JojaMart counter | 41 minutes | One-player approximation. |
| Farmhouse to Blacksmith by north route | 48 minutes | One-player approximation; alternate route was reported near 50. |
| Blacksmith to Mines | 50 minutes | One-player approximation. |
| Mines to farmhouse | 47 minutes | One-player approximation and not necessarily the reverse of the outbound path. |
| Farmhouse to Beach | 40–52 minutes | Route-dependent range; minecart and horse comparisons used different conditions. |
| Secret Woods / Traveling Cart / Robin / Wizard / Krobus | 31–57 minutes | Approximate estimates without saved coordinates or repeat distributions. |
Do not plan a closing-time arrival to the exact minute from this table. Add a buffer and verify the route on your own farm.
Reproducible 1.6.15 test protocol
- Record the game build, platform, farm map and whether any movement/time mods are installed. A RunningLate result must include the exact mod release.
- Use a named start tile and finish tile—not “farmhouse” or “town” generally. Save a screenshot or tile coordinates for both.
- State movement conditions: walking or running, speed buffs, horse, minecart, path obstructions, controller/keyboard and whether menus pause time.
- Start each run at the same clock state and avoid foraging, dialogue, trash cans and accidental collisions.
- Repeat each direction at least 20 times. Report sample size, median, minimum, maximum and a percentile range instead of a single best run.
- Test outbound and return routes separately; map exits and door positions can make them differ.
Practical route planning
- Use these readings only to compare rough distance classes: Pierre is closer than JojaMart, while the Blacksmith and Mines require a larger buffer.
- Minecarts and the horse change the route itself, so keep their results in separate rows.
- For a shop visit, time the route to the actual counter or door you need, then preserve at least one ten-minute clock tick of safety.
- If crops, debris or a non-Standard Farm layout alter the path, remeasure rather than importing another player’s minute value.
