Salmonberries in vanilla Stardew Valley 1.6

Salmonberries are low-price forage that are most useful as early energy, emergency food and inexpensive processing input. Local object 296 has a 5g base price.

When and where to harvest

Shake berry bushes during Spring 15–18. The number produced by a successful bush increases at the relevant Foraging-level thresholds, so a temporary Foraging buff can matter before shaking. Bush berries are foraged items but shaking them does not award ordinary ground-forage experience.

The Fruit Bat cave can also leave Salmonberries among its possible fruit. That route is irregular, so the four-day bush season is the dependable bulk source.

Sale and processing values

The Wine and Jelly rows use the vanilla formulas 3 × fruit base price and 2 × fruit base price + 50. These values are small compared with high-price fruit, so scarce Kegs and Preserves Jars are usually better reserved for more valuable inputs. Salmonberries remain useful when machine capacity would otherwise sit idle.

Community Center and festival boundary

Salmonberry is not part of the standard Spring Foraging Bundle. The local bundle requires Wild Horseradish, Daffodil, Leek and Dandelion.

Vanilla 1.6.15 also has no Spring festival exchange that accepts 50 Salmonberries for a reward. If a mod adds such an exchange, the mod name and release must be identified; it should not be presented as a vanilla event.

Practical uses

• Carry a stack for cheap early-game energy instead of selling it for 5g each.
• Process surplus only when doing so does not displace a more valuable fruit.
• Check the intended NPC’s current gift taste before gifting; do not assume every villager likes fruit.
• Keep a few if your own cooking or modded recipe plan calls for them, but no standard Spring Foraging Bundle slot is needed.
