Best Fertilizer for Ancient Fruit in Stardew Valley 1.6
Ancient Fruit Fertilizer Guide
Ancient Fruit needs 28 growth days and then regrows every 7 days. Speed fertilizer changes only the first maturity; quality fertilizer can affect every raw harvest while it remains on the tile. Fruit quality does not determine Wine quality.

Ancient Fruit first maturity
| Speed setup | First maturity | What changes afterward |
|---|---|---|
| None | 28 days | 7-day regrowth |
| Speed-Gro +10% | 25 days | 7-day regrowth |
| Deluxe Speed-Gro +25% | 21 days | 7-day regrowth |
| Hyper Speed-Gro +33% | 18 days | 7-day regrowth |
The local algorithm removes ceil(total phase days × speed boost) from crop phases with the game's phase limits. For Ancient Fruit's phases [2,7,7,7,5], ordinary Speed-Gro removes 3 days and produces 25 days — not 24.
Which one is best?
- Late planting or a fixed deadline: Speed-Gro can create an extra first harvest or make an otherwise impossible planting mature.
- Raw-fruit sales over many weekly harvests: Quality/Deluxe Fertilizer can keep adding value after maturity.
- Wine or Jelly processing: crop quality is discarded when the machine creates the artisan good; Wine quality comes from cask aging. Compare the value of an earlier first crop against the fertilizer cost.
- Indefinite Greenhouse/Island planting: the one-time speed benefit becomes a smaller share of lifetime output; there is no universally best fertilizer without a planting date and use plan.
