Ultimate Luau in Stardew Valley: Co-op, Hot Peppers & Best Soup
The vanilla Luau takes place at the Beach on Summer 11. Enter between 9 AM and 2 PM, speak to villagers if you wish, add one valid ingredient to the soup, and ask Mayor Lewis to begin the tasting.
The Governor does not poll individual villager preferences. Local 1.6.15 logic grades each submitted object using its base price, edibility, and quality, then selects a reaction tier.

Mayor Lewis's Lucky Purple Shorts use a separate special reaction and should not be treated as an ordinary scoring shortcut.
What Happens if You Add a Hot Pepper?
Hot Pepper has a local base price of 40g and edibility of 5. Those values meet the second neutral condition, so the Governor gives the neutral reaction. The result does not depend on whether particular villagers like spicy food, and Hot Pepper quality does not raise it into the good tier because its base price remains below the relevant thresholds.
Reliable Ingredients
Use the table above rather than a villager-gift list. For the best response, a simple planning rule is to save a Gold- or Iridium-quality edible item with base price at least 160g. Silver items need the stricter 300g price and edibility-above-10 test. If an item only meets the good tier, it still grants +60 Town friendship.
Quality is checked as its own field; the code does not first multiply the sell price by a quality multiplier and then compare that adjusted value.
Multiplayer and Co-op Rule
Each participating player contributes one ingredient. The event evaluates every contribution and keeps the lowest reaction tier for the final Governor response. More ingredients do not automatically improve the soup, and the game does not average their qualities. One poor contribution can set the final reaction for the group, so coordinate on a minimum acceptable tier before starting the tasting.
What the Luau Actually Rewards
- The soup tier can change Town friendship by +120, +60, 0, -50, or -100 as shown above.
- The festival provides event dialogue and the Governor tasting scene.
- There is no Luau experience-point award or separate Mayor prize.
- There are no vanilla volleyball, fishing, dance, or cooking-competition minigames at this event.
- The Luau does not directly unlock quests or romance scenes.
- Skipping the festival does not apply a separate reputation or friendship penalty; it simply forfeits that year's opportunity for the soup result and dialogue.
