Unveiling The Magic of Stardew Valley 1.6 Update: New Festivals, Extended Professions, and More

Version note: Stardew Valley 1.6 has been released. This guide reflects the installed PC/Mac game data for version 1.6.15 rather than the teaser-era speculation that preceded the update.

Three New Seasonal Events

  • Desert Festival: Spring 15–17 in the Calico Desert. It includes rotating villagers, races, challenges, shops, and Calico Egg rewards.
  • Trout Derby: Summer 20–21 in Cindersap Forest. Catch Rainbow Trout and collect Golden Tags for prizes.
  • SquidFest: Winter 12–13 at the Beach. Catch Squid to reach daily reward tiers.

Skills Still End at Level 10; Mastery Is Separate

Farming, Mining, Foraging, Fishing, and Combat still have a maximum skill level of 10. Once all five skills reach level 10, the new Mastery system becomes available. Mastery experience fills a separate bar and unlocks one reward track for each skill; it does not raise the ordinary skills to level 15 or 20.

Meadowlands Farm

The new Meadowlands Farm is designed around animals. It starts with a coop and two chickens and contains patches of Blue Grass, which animals can graze. Its farming space and water layout differ from the Standard Farm, so it favors an early livestock start.

Books, Prize Tickets, and New Production Options

Books of Power provide permanent abilities or experience when read. Prize Tickets can be exchanged at the Prize Machine in Mayor Lewis’s house, adding a repeatable reward path to quests, festivals, and other activities.

Version 1.6 also adds practical equipment and storage choices such as the Big Chest, Dehydrator, Fish Smoker, Mushroom Log, and Bait Maker. Four seasonal crops—Carrot, Summer Squash, Broccoli, and Powdermelon—come from their corresponding seeds, while Moss and Mystic Trees support additional crafting and production routes.

Dialogue, Winter Outfits, Pets, and Multiplayer

Villagers now have winter outfits and additional dialogue. The update adds more pets and lets a farm adopt additional pets after the relevant requirements are met. On PC, multiplayer supports up to eight players; Meadowlands is a normal farm choice rather than a special oversized multiplayer-only map.

Conclusion

The defining additions in 1.6 are shipped systems players can use now: three dated events, post-level-10 Mastery, Meadowlands Farm, Books of Power, Prize Tickets, new crops and machines, expanded pets, dialogue, outfits, and PC multiplayer. None of these require guessing at unreleased teasers.
