Everything You Need to Know About Beds in Stardew Valley
A player bed ends the day when you confirm sleep. In single-player, the overnight transition saves the game. In multiplayer, the day advances when the required players have gone to bed; lying in bed without ending the day can restore Energy.
Where beds can be used
- Main Farmhouse: single and double player beds are valid and movable.
- Multiplayer Cabins: both small and upgraded cabins are player homes and can contain movable beds.
- Ginger Island Farmhouse: its bed is a valid sleep point after the farmhouse is available.
The old rule that beds cannot be placed in cabins is incorrect. Cabins are not decorative sheds; each is a farmhand home with its own interior and bed context.
Who can move a cabin bed?
Do not rely on a blanket “host only” rule. Furniture authority depends on the player, cabin ownership/context and current multiplayer session. The safest workflow is for the farmhand who owns/uses the cabin to enter it and move the bed. If an item cannot be selected, have the cabin player and host coordinate while both are connected instead of assuming the bed is permanently fixed.
Player beds versus child beds

Child Beds are therefore not purely decorative. They do not let the farmer end the day, but children use them when the room and pathing are available.
Moving a bed safely
- Wait until no character is occupying or pathing through the bed.
- Use the furniture interaction/pick-up control appropriate to the platform.
- Place the bed on clear interior tiles with room to approach it.
- In multiplayer, confirm the cabin owner can still reach and use it before ending the session.
Style and acquisition
Single, double, tropical and themed beds mainly change appearance; they do not provide stronger sleep or extra Energy. Robin, furniture catalogues, island/desert trades, Qi shops and events provide different designs. Check the current shop condition before spending rare currency solely for a cosmetic bed.
