Growing Up: How to Get Your Very Own Trellis in Stardew Valley

Growing Up: How to Get Your Very Own Trellis in Stardew Valley

You do not craft, buy, upgrade, maintain, or stack a separate trellis in Stardew Valley. A trellis appears automatically when you plant one of the game’s three raised crops, and that crop tile cannot be walked through.

These values come from the local Stardew Valley 1.6.15 crop records: all three entries have IsRaised enabled. Sweet Pea is summer forage, not a planted trellis crop.

A layout that stays usable

  • Leave walkable aisles so every planted tile can be reached without crossing another trellis crop.
  • Avoid a solid 3-by-3 block: the center tile becomes inaccessible to the farmer.
  • Long single rows with a path beside them are simple to water and harvest. Parallel rows also work when each row has an accessible side.
  • Place sprinklers before planting if the intended layout would later block the route to them. Sprinklers solve watering, not player access for harvesting.
  • Keep gates, chests, and the route back to the farmhouse clear; a mature trellis remains an obstacle until the crop is removed.

What trellises do not do

Trellises do not improve soil, increase crop yield, enable crop rotation, come in different types, or create multi-level growing space. Profit comes from the crop’s normal harvest and regrowth schedule. The only special layout rule is to plan around the impassable tiles.
