How to Update Stardew Valley Expanded to 1.15.11 Safely
Update Stardew Valley Expanded to 1.15.11
This guide is pinned to Stardew Valley 1.6.15.24356 and SVE 1.15.11. The current SVE archive is a three-component set, so updating only the Content Patcher folder is incomplete.
Target version matrix
| Component | SVE 1.15.11 requirement |
|---|---|
[CP] Stardew Valley Expanded | Version 1.15.11; SMAPI 4.1.7+; loaded by Content Patcher |
[FTM] Stardew Valley Expanded | Version 1.15.11; Farm Type Manager 1.19+ |
StardewValleyExpanded | Version 1.15.11; SMAPI code component with StardewValleyExpanded.dll |
| Content Patcher | Use a release compatible with your exact game and SMAPI versions |
| Optional farm pack | Update Grandpa’s Farm or Immersive Farm 2 Remastered to its matching 1.15.11 package; each contains separate CP and FTM folders |
SVE 1.15.11 does not declare PyTK or TMXL Map Toolkit as dependencies. Do not retain those frameworks solely because an old SVE guide listed them.
1. Record the working installation
- Launch through SMAPI, close the game, and upload
SMAPI-latest.txtat smapi.io/log. - Save the parsed link. It records the active game directory, game version, SMAPI version, loaded SVE components and skipped mods.
- Record whether the save uses the Standard Farm, Grandpa’s Farm, Immersive Farm 2 Remastered, Frontier Farm or another map replacement.
2. Back up before replacing anything
- Close Stardew Valley and SMAPI.
- Copy the complete save folder, including the main save file and
SaveGameInfo, outside the live Saves directory. - Copy the complete
Modsfolder, not only SVE. A rollback needs the save and its matching old mod set. - Keep the old archives until the updated copy has survived several in-game days.
3. Download clean official releases
Use SVE’s official release page or its GitHub repository, plus the official Content Patcher and Farm Type Manager release pages. Extract downloads to a temporary directory first.
Inside the SVE package, verify all three component folders and their manifest.json files. If you use an optional SVE farm pack, verify its CP and FTM folders too.
4. Remove old component folders, then copy the new ones
- Delete or move aside the old
[CP] Stardew Valley Expanded,[FTM] Stardew Valley ExpandedandStardewValleyExpandedfolders. - Do the same for an optional SVE farm pack being updated.
- Copy the freshly extracted folders into the active
Modsdirectory. - Do not merge a new archive over an old folder. Files removed or renamed between releases would otherwise remain behind.
- Make sure the layout ends at
Mods/ComponentName/manifest.json, without an extra nested archive directory.
5. Verify at the title screen first
- Launch through SMAPI but do not open the main save immediately.
- Resolve the first red error and every entry under Skipped mods.
- Confirm the loaded-mod list shows all three SVE components at 1.15.11 and the intended dependency versions.
- If duplicate IDs appear, remove the duplicate folder instead of renaming it.
6. Test a duplicate save
Open a copied save and check the Farm, exits, Town, Forest, Mountain, Railroad, Ginger Island, SVE NPCs, current quests and any optional farm map. Sleep once, then review the new SMAPI log. Continue on the original save only after the copy has no unresolved SVE or dependency errors.
Rollback
If the update fails, close without saving when possible. Restore the complete old Mods folder and the untouched matching save backup together. Restoring only one side can leave custom items, locations, mail or NPC records without the code and data that created them.
