Install Stardew Valley Expanded 1.15.11 on Linux
Install SVE 1.15.11 on Linux
Version scope: Stardew Valley 1.6.15.24356 and Stardew Valley Expanded 1.15.11. SVE is not one folder: its current package contains a Content Patcher pack, a Farm Type Manager pack and a SMAPI code component.
Required component matrix
| Folder or framework | Requirement |
|---|---|
[CP] Stardew Valley Expanded | SVE 1.15.11; SMAPI 4.1.7+; Content Patcher |
[FTM] Stardew Valley Expanded | SVE 1.15.11; Farm Type Manager 1.19+ |
StardewValleyExpanded | SVE 1.15.11 code mod |
| Optional Grandpa’s Farm or Immersive Farm 2 Remastered | Use the matching 1.15.11 package and install both of its CP/FTM folders; never install both farm replacements together |
The 1.15.11 manifests do not declare PyTK or TMXL Map Toolkit. Do not add them solely from an obsolete installation guide.
1. Identify the Active Linux Installation
- In Steam choose Stardew Valley → Properties → Installed Files → Browse.
- Use that opened directory rather than assuming the default
~/.local/share/Steampath; another Steam library may be active. - Record the game version and locate the
Modsdirectory created by SMAPI inside that active installation.
2. Install a Compatible SMAPI Release
- Download SMAPI from its official site.
- Extract the archive and run the bundled Linux installer following its prompts.
- Launch once through SMAPI and upload the log at smapi.io/log.
- Confirm that the log shows the intended game directory and a SMAPI version meeting SVE’s 4.1.7+ minimum.
3. Download SVE and its frameworks
Use SVE’s official release page or GitHub repository. Download a Content Patcher release compatible with the selected SMAPI/game build and Farm Type Manager 1.19 or later.
Extract everything outside the game directory. Confirm that the SVE archive contains these exact IDs in its manifests: FlashShifter.StardewValleyExpandedCP, FlashShifter.SVE-FTM and FlashShifter.SVECode.
4. Install Clean Extracted Folders
- Back up saves and the current
Modsfolder. - Verify that each final mod folder contains
manifest.jsondirectly inside it. - Remove old versions of the SVE CP, FTM and code folders before copying all three new folders into the active
Modsdirectory. - Install Content Patcher and Farm Type Manager as their own folders. If using an optional SVE farm map, install its matching CP and FTM folders too.
- Do not merge archives over old folders.
5. Linux-Specific Checks
- Linux paths and filenames are case-sensitive. A renamed folder or manual file edit with the wrong case can break asset loading.
- Make sure the current user can read the mod files and execute the SMAPI launcher.
- For Steam Deck or Flatpak setups, trust the path printed in the SMAPI log rather than a desktop-Steam path copied from a guide.
- Do not use
sudoto copy routine mod files into a user-owned Steam library; root-owned files can create later update and permission failures.
6. Verify the Result
Launch through SMAPI and stop at the title screen. Resolve the first red error and every Skipped mods entry. The install is verified only when the loaded-mod list shows all three SVE components at 1.15.11, the dependency versions match the matrix, and a copied test save opens with the expected maps and NPCs.
