Maximizing Profit in Stardew Valley: Best Summer Crops Compared

Maximizing Profit in Stardew Valley: Best Summer Crops Compared

This comparison uses one outdoor Summer of 28 days, planting on Summer 1, immediate replanting when applicable, base-quality sale prices, and the seed cost for every planting. It excludes fertilizer, professions, processing, crop quality and Blueberry’s random bonus-berry chance so every row uses the same guaranteed baseline.

Guaranteed base-profit comparison per planted tile

CropHarvests / outputGrossSeed costNet for SummerNet per calendar day
Blueberry4 harvests × 3 berries = 1212 × 50g = 600g80g520g18.57g/day
Hops17 daily harvests17 × 25g = 425g60g365g13.04g/day
Melon2 crops2 × 250g = 500g2 × 80g = 160g340g12.14g/day
Starfruit2 crops2 × 750g = 1,500g2 × 400g = 800g700g25.00g/day

Under these assumptions the ranking is Starfruit > Blueberry > Hops > Melon. Blueberry’s actual average is slightly higher when its extra-berry chance is modeled, but that random bonus is deliberately excluded from this guaranteed table.

Exactly when three Starfruit harvests are possible

Agriculturist is a level-10 Tiller-branch profession, not a level-5 profession. A simple exact three-harvest setup is:

  • apply Hyper Speed-Gro before planting on Summer 1;
  • plant Starfruit on Summer 1; and
  • harvest and replant on Summer 10 and Summer 19, then take the third harvest on Summer 28.

Generic “Speed-Gro” wording is not enough: regular Speed-Gro does not produce those dates. Any alternative claim must name the fertilizer tier, whether the level-10 Agriculturist profession is active, the planting date and every resulting harvest date.

Hops do not bank missed daily output

Once mature, a Hops plant can hold one ready Hop. If you leave that Hop on the trellis, later daily outputs do not accumulate behind it. Collecting only every four days during the normal 17-harvest window yields about five Hops rather than 17: 125g gross minus the 60g starter cost is only 65g net or about 2.32g per calendar day.

Processing changes the decision

Pale Ale makes Hops valuable when you have enough Kegs and can handle daily harvesting. Starfruit Wine uses far fewer Kegs per planted tile and less daily labor. Treat Keg count, processing backlog, trellis access and available starting cash as separate constraints instead of mixing processed revenue into the raw-crop table.
