Exact SVE 1.15.11 answer: after reading Secret Note #18, use the Hoe on Calico Desert tile (9, 43). The reward is object 127, the yellow Strange Doll.

Where to dig in SVE

  1. Travel to Calico Desert.
  2. Go to SVE tile X 9, Y 43. Tile coordinates count from the map’s top-left corner, beginning at zero.
  3. Equip the Hoe and till that exact square.
  4. The yellow Strange Doll pops out and the save records SecretNote18_done.

The vanilla tile can still work

SVE’s code adds tile (9, 43); it does not replace the original game check. The vanilla Secret Note #18 tile (40, 55) can therefore still award the doll if it is dug first and remains accessible on the active Desert map.

The reward is one-time. Digging either valid tile adds SecretNote18_done, so the other tile will not produce a second doll afterward.

Requirements before digging

  • Get the Magnifying Glass: in Winter, walk from the Farm toward the Bus Stop between 6:00 AM and 4:00 PM to begin A Winter Mystery, then follow the shadow’s trail and complete the encounter.
  • Find Secret Note #18: once the Magnifying Glass is unlocked, Secret Notes can drop from eligible activities in any season.
  • Read the note: the treasure check requires Secret Note #18 to be present in the player’s seen-note list. Merely carrying an unread note is not enough.

You do not need to dig in Winter, during a particular time window, or in specific weather. Those conditions belong to the earlier Magnifying Glass quest, not to the Desert treasure.

If the tile gives nothing

  • Open the Collections/Secret Notes view and confirm Note #18 has been read.
  • Check whether the yellow Strange Doll was already collected from either valid tile.
  • Confirm you are on the main Calico Desert map and not a festival or replacement map.
  • If another mod changes the Desert, use its map-specific coordinate or temporarily resolve the map conflict.
  • Check the SMAPI log for an error applying SVE’s Desert Secret Note tile patch.
