Discover The Traveling Cart in Stardew Valley: Your Ultimate Guide
The Traveling Cart is a rotating shop in Cindersap Forest, west of Marnie’s Ranch. In a normal week it opens on Friday and Sunday, 6:00am–8:00pm. Its random stock is determined by the save’s game seed, so reloading the same day does not create a new inventory.

Best reasons to check the cart
- Buy a Red Cabbage or Red Cabbage Seeds when trying to finish the Community Center in Year 1.
- Fill difficult bundle slots with out-of-season crops, fish, forage or animal products.
- Buy Rare Seeds in Spring and Summer for Sweet Gem Berries.
- Check special furniture and seasonal stock only if the price fits your plan.
Rare Seed stock: local 1.6.15 formula
The local shop catalog record for item (O)347 gives the cart one Rare Seed for 1,000g on every standard Spring and Summer visit. A RANDOM 0.1 stock modifier adds four more seeds, producing a stack of five on 10% of those visits.
| Outcome per visit | Probability | Seeds |
|---|---|---|
| Base stock | 90% | 1 |
| Expanded stock | 10% | 5 |
Expected seeds per visit: (0.90 × 1) + (0.10 × 5) = 1.4. Spring and Summer contain 16 normal Friday/Sunday visits in total, so the mathematical expectation is 16 × 1.4 = 22.4 Rare Seeds. 22.4 is an average across many saves, not a promised stock total for one save.
How to judge random items
- Prioritize an item that immediately completes a bundle or removes a progression bottleneck.
- Compare the cart price with the normal shop, farming, fishing or animal route.
- Do not assume every displayed stack uses the Rare Seed 90%/10% rule; each fixed or random entry has its own shop condition.
- Record the game version before publishing an exact probability, then calculate it from the current item pool, stock limit and condition.
Version scope
Values on this page apply to Stardew Valley 1.6.15.24356. Exact stock probabilities depend on the current item pool, stock limit and shop conditions; there is no universal 40% or 25% chance for every cart item.
