Lost a sword? Choose the safest route for your save

Losing the Rusty Sword does not lock a farm out of combat. The best response depends on whether the item was lost in the latest Mine defeat, whether the Adventurer’s Guild is open, and how far the Mine elevator has progressed.

Five recovery or replacement routes

1. Use Marlon’s item-recovery service: after losing items from defeat, recover one item from the most recent loss list. Check the displayed recovery price before choosing.
2. Buy a Guild weapon: complete the Initiation quest and use the Adventurer’s Guild shop. Available stock expands with progression.
3. Reach the floor-20 chest: the Steel Smallsword is a deterministic early Mine replacement. Use the elevator checkpoints and avoid unnecessary fights.
4. Earn the Insect Head: the current Monster Eradication Goal is 80 cave insects—not 125. Eligible local targets are Grubs, Flies, and Bugs; Gil rewards weapon (W)13.
5. Use a fishing-treasure weapon if one appears: this can help, but it is random and should not be the primary recovery plan.

Emergency combat plan

A Scythe can provide a no-energy emergency attack while you avoid monsters and search for ladders, but it is not a comfortable substitute for a weapon. Bring food, leave before health becomes critical, and use elevator floors to make incremental progress.
