Stardew Valley Multiplayer: Time, Player Marriage, and Mod Scope

Stardew Valley Multiplayer: Time, Player Marriage, and Mod Scope

Multiplayer changes time pressure, but it does not remove the player-marriage proposal item

Time and inventory habits

  • Menus and fishing do not provide the same personal pause as single-player while other players remain active.
  • Label chests, keep a dump chest near shared work areas, and sort during low-pressure periods.
  • Coordinate Mine and Skull Cavern food breaks because the world and nearby monsters can keep moving.
  • Assign crop harvesting and tree finishing deliberately when individual skill experience matters.

How one player proposes to another

  1. In multiplayer, buy the Wedding Ring recipe from the Traveling Cart for 500g; the local shop row is conditioned on IS_MULTIPLAYER.
  2. Craft one Wedding Ring with 5 Iridium Bars + 1 Prismatic Shard.
  3. Give the crafted Wedding Ring to the other player as the proposal.
  4. After acceptance, allow the multiplayer wedding schedule to complete normally.

Players cannot marry each other without the Wedding Ring proposal.

“No terrain or story edit” is not a client-only rule

Mod behaviorInstallation decision
Pure local visual replacement with no data or state changeMay be client-only, but verify the exact release documentation.
Maps, events, shops, items, recipes, machines, NPC dataUsually requires a documented multiplayer matrix and often matching content.
Time, money, inventory, spawning, warps, or host-authoritative actionsFeature-specific testing is required; a broad framework such as CJB cannot be classified as one client-only unit.
Code mod with network messagesFollow its exact host and farmhand requirements; do not infer from visible effects.

Record the mod name, UniqueID, release, dependencies, game/SMAPI versions, and which machines installed it before calling a setup compatible.
