Breeding Tool

Make Route 34 Day Care Eggs without wasting steps

In Pokemon Crystal, use the Day Care on Route 34 below Goldenrod City. Leave two compatible parents, keep one party slot open, move until the Day-Care Man appears outside, then take the Egg and hatch it in your party. If the pair has no interest or is brimming with energy, change parents.

Place: Route 34 Day Care Signal: man outside Needs: free party slot Best helper: Ditto

Ditto is a shortcut, not a universal answer

Ditto works with most breedable Pokemon, including genderless Pokemon such as Magnemite. It does not work with another Ditto or with Pokemon in the No Eggs group.

The baby follows the mother, or the non-Ditto parent

For normal pairs, the female side determines the species line. With Ditto, the non-Ditto Pokemon is the breeding target.

Egg moves come from the compatible move source

Crystal can inherit listed Egg Moves, shared level-up moves, and compatible TM/HM/Tutor moves when the move is present on the correct parent.

Advanced

Shiny breeding uses old DV rules

Crystal shiny breeding is a separate advanced project. The same hidden DV system that can block a pair can also make shiny-family breeding powerful when the parent setup is right. Save before long projects, label your parents clearly, and avoid mixing shiny planning into a first Egg attempt.
