Mystery Gift Tool
Unlock Mystery Gift, use the right hardware, and track your daily gifts
In Pokemon Crystal, Mystery Gift unlocks from Carrie on Goldenrod Department Store 5F. Save afterward, use the title-menu option with compatible infrared hardware, and remember the limits: one gift per partner per day, five partners per day. Items wait at the Pokemon Center 2F delivery NPC; new decorations are sent home.
Fast Answer
The feature is local gifting, not a modern event code menu
Use Mystery Gift for items, room decorations, and the Trainer House opponent. It does not directly give Celebi, Mew, eggs, Wonder Cards, or ROM downloads. For Virtual Console owners, local 3DS infrared still matters more than internet service status.

Compatibility
Pick your hardware path
| Setup | Status | Use it with | Player note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Two Game Boy Color systems with Gen II cartridges | Works | Gold, Silver, or Crystal cartridge saves that unlocked Mystery Gift | Align the infrared ports and stay within the daily partner limit. |
| 3DS Virtual Console Gen II pair | Works | Other VC Gold, Silver, or Crystal copies on nearby 3DS-family systems | Local IR, not internet matchmaking; it cannot gift with a GBC cartridge. |
| Pokemon Stadium 2 with Transfer Pak | Works | An unlocked Gen II save connected through Stadium 2 | Useful for a daily Carrie gift and room collection, with special edge cases. |
| Pokemon Pikachu 2 GS | Works | Original Game Boy Color infrared | This accessory follows its own gift behavior and skips normal partner checks. |
| Game Boy Advance or Game Boy Player | Limited | Playing the cartridge only | The game can run, but this hardware does not provide GBC infrared. |
| Emulator setup | Limited | Only if the emulator implements compatible Mystery Gift communication | A visible menu option does not prove the link feature works. |
| Original Game Boy or Game Boy Pocket | Unsupported | None | No Game Boy Color infrared support. |
