Dive Goal Planner
Pick your route and goal. The planner shows Flippers prerequisites, target maps, and which shellfish matter first.Step by step
From Flippers to first shellfish
The loop is short: shop → equip → swim → dive → memo.-
1
Reach Beach and the Tackle Shop
Teen starts at Beach. Kid reaches Beach through the home hub after Lake progress. The Dive guide near the shop reminds you to buy Flippers before the six Beach shellfish spots.
-
2
Buy and equip Flippers
Purchase Flippers (in-game item name: Flippers) at the Beach Tackle Shop, then equip them. An unequipped pair does nothing in the water.
-
3
Enter deep water and dive
Walk into deep coastal water to swim. Dive on seafloor collection spots to pick shellfish. Surface when your air or path runs out, then dive again on the next spot.
-
4
Log the Shellfish Memo
New species register on the Shellfish Memo (24 entries). Duplicates can still matter for trades—Pearl Oyster and Scallops are the main story shells.
Route differences
Teen boat gate vs Kid coastal access
Both routes use the same Flippers and shellfish tables. Only early access timing and the Pearl Oyster boat story differ.Teen route · required story dive
Flippers + Pearl Oyster open Dad's boat
- Finish the Dandelion → Canoe exchange at Beach so you can cross water cleanly.
- Buy Flippers at the Beach Tackle Shop.
- Dive northeast Beach water for Pearl Oyster (in-game: P.Oyster).
- Talk to Dad on the south side of Shore and hand over the oyster.
- Use Dad's boat for the Ocean dock and later cruiser travel.
Do not sell the first Pearl Oyster. Without this hand-in, Shore boat access stays closed even if you can walk the Beach–Shore path.
Kid route · later coastal diving
Unlock Beach, then dive for completion
- Clear early Lake gates (Canoe, Watch, Pink → Stream) through the normal walkthrough.
- Travel through the home hub to Beach when that coast opens.
- Buy Flippers at the Beach Tackle Shop the same way Teen does.
- Dive Beach, Shore, Ocean, and Remote Island spots for the Shellfish Memo.
- Treat Scallops and other trade shells as quest items until the NPC takes them.
Kid players still need Flippers for shellfish completion. The Pearl Oyster → Dad boat sequence is the Teen story gate; Kid coastal timing follows the Lake-first walkthrough.

Stuck?
Common swimming problems
I cannot enter the water at all
Buy Flippers and equip them. Deep water blocks you until Flippers are on—owning them in the bag is not enough.
I can swim but find no shellfish
Look for seafloor dive spots, not every open tile. Beach has six shellfish locations; the Dive guide near the Tackle Shop points you at that early loop.
Dad will not give me the boat
Teen route only: dive northeast Beach for Pearl Oyster (P.Oyster), keep it, and talk to Dad on the south side of Shore. Walking the Beach–Shore path does not replace that hand-in.
I cannot find the Turtle underwater palace
Pay 300G to the Turtle boy at Beach first, then search east of the Shore dock for the Turtle and dive from there.
Mermaids will not help at the shipwreck
Bring two Scallops from Ocean diving. That opens the old-man clue for the Shore island / Heaven Jewel path.

Swimming & diving FAQ
Do Kid and Teen use the same Flippers?
Yes. Both routes buy Flippers at the Beach Tackle Shop. Teen needs them earlier for Pearl Oyster; Kid buys them when Beach opens.
Is Pearl Oyster only for Teen?
The Dad boat hand-in is the Teen Shore gate. Pearl Oyster still counts as a Shellfish Memo entry for both routes.
How many shellfish are there?
24 on the Shellfish Memo: roughly 6 Beach, 9 Shore, 7 Ocean, and 2 Remote Island.
What is the Net for?
A general water Net item supports collection loops alongside Flippers. Flippers are the required swim-and-dive unlock; keep inventory space for shells and quest trades.
Can I track shellfish on my cartridge from this page?
No. The checklist stores progress only in this browser. Your real memo still lives on the Game Boy Color save.
Where next after the first dive?
Open the Walkthrough for Shore and Ocean story order, or the Sea & River King guide once boat travel is unlocked.
