In international Pokemon Crystal, the Odd Egg has a 14% total shiny chance. The exact target matters: shiny Pichu and shiny Tyrogue are 1% outcomes, shiny Smoochum, Elekid, and Magby are 2% outcomes, and shiny Cleffa and shiny Igglybuff are 3% outcomes.

Fast Answer

The 14% number is for any shiny, not every specific baby

Choose your target before you begin. If any shiny baby is acceptable, the Odd Egg is a friendly hunt. If you only want shiny Pichu or shiny Tyrogue, you are chasing a 1% table outcome and should expect longer reset streaks.

Version Notes

Use the right table for your copy

International Crystal Use the 14% total shiny table above. This is the normal English-language player answer.
3DS Virtual Console The international Virtual Console release uses the same practical odds table. Newly buying it is no longer available through the closed 3DS eShop.
Japanese Crystal Japanese event access and shiny-rate notes are different. Do not mix Japanese event history into an international save route.
Transfer planning Before moving a VC hatch forward, check move compatibility. Dizzy Punch babies can require cleanup before transfer.

FAQ

Common Odd Egg mistakes

Can I save right before the Egg hatches?

No. Save before receiving the Odd Egg. Saving after you accept it keeps the same species and shiny status.

Is shiny Pichu really only 1%?

Yes, shiny Pichu is a 1% outcome from the full Odd Egg table. Any shiny baby is 14%, but a specific shiny target can be much lower.

Does the Odd Egg replace normal breeding?

No. It is a one-time gift. For repeatable eggs, use the regular Day Care breeding flow in the breeding guide.
