Search Kanto leaders and level spikes
| Leader | City | Badge | Ace / Range | Plan |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lt. Surge | Vermilion | Thunder | Electabuzz 46; team 40-46 | Ground attacks stop Raichu, Magneton, and Electabuzz pressure. |
| Sabrina | Saffron | Marsh | Alakazam 48; team 46-48 | Bring fast physical damage and avoid slow Poison or Fighting reliance. |
| Misty | Cerulean | Cascade | Starmie 47; team 42-47 | Grass helps, but Quagsire blocks Electric-only plans. |
| Erika | Celadon | Rainbow | Victreebel 46, Bellossom 46; team 41-46 | Fire, Flying, Ice, and safe status recovery keep Sunny Day in check. |
| Janine | Fuchsia | Soul | Venomoth 39; team 33-39 | Psychic and Ground coverage clean up Poison types; watch Explosion. |
| Brock | Pewter | Boulder | Onix 44; team 41-44 | Water and Grass cover most of the team, but Kabutops has Giga Drain. |
| Blaine | Seafoam | Volcano | Rapidash 50; team 45-50 | Water and Ground work; keep Magmar's ThunderPunch in mind. |
| Blue | Viridian | Earth | Gyarados, Exeggutor, Arcanine 58; team 54-58 | Use broad coverage: Electric, Ice, Water, Fire, and a plan for Alakazam. |
Power Chain
Machine Part to EXPN Card
- Visit the Power Plant and hear that the generator part is gone.
- Enter Cerulean Gym so the Rocket runs out.
- Follow him to Nugget Bridge, beat him, then check the gym water.
- Return the Machine Part to restore Kanto power.
- Visit Lavender Radio Tower and receive the EXPN Card.
Snorlax Gate
How to reach Pewter
Snorlax does not move because you have a badge count. It moves because the Kanto radio works again. After EXPN Card, stand by Snorlax, tune to Poke Flute, and press A on Snorlax. Catch it or defeat it, then enter Diglett's Cave.

After Kanto
Before Mt. Silver and Red
Once Blue is beaten, Professor Oak opens Route 28 and Mt. Silver. Stock healing items, bring Flash and Waterfall support if your route needs it, and train against Kanto leftovers before taking on Red's much higher-level team.
