Challenge Run Planner
Pokemon Crystal Nuzlocke guide
For a first Crystal Nuzlocke, play first encounter per area, box fainted Pokemon permanently, nickname every catch, use Dupes Clause, and check the next boss cap before grinding. The safest route is built around Cyndaquil or Totodile, an early Rock or Ground answer, Psychic pressure, a Water/Ice plan, and backups for Whitney, Morty, Clair, and Lance.
Cyndaquil is the easiest beginner route. Totodile is almost as safe. Chikorita is viable, but it needs stronger early catches.
Rules
Choose the run style before the first Poke Ball
First legal encounter per named area, permanent death after fainting, nicknames, Dupes Clause, and gift/static rules decided before play.
Add Set battle style, no bag healing in battle, and level caps at the next leader or Champion ace.
Decide whether Odd Egg, Lapras, Red Gyarados, Game Corner prizes, and in-game trades count as encounters for their areas.
If no living legal Pokemon can use a required HM, allow a boxed HM user that never battles. Write the rule down first.

Where runs usually become dangerous
Do not overlevel before Falkner. Night Sprout Tower can add Gastly, while Union Cave can secure Geodude, Onix, or Wooper.
Bugsy checks Scyther planning; Whitney checks patience. Take Goldenrod shopping seriously before entering the gym.
Morty, Chuck, and Pryce punish shallow benches. Keep Normal pivots, Psychic or Flying pressure, and Electric or Fighting coverage ready.
Clair and Lance demand Ice or bulky neutral plans. Lapras, Jynx, Piloswine, Ice Punch users, and Red Gyarados are realistic answers.
