WARIO LAND 3 GUIDE

How Long to Beat: Main Story and 100%

How Long to Beat: Main Story and 100%

Wario Land 3 length depends on the ending you want. The main clear only needs the five Music Boxes and the final fight. Perfect completion checks all 100 treasures. Musical Coins, golf, and Time Attack sit on top as optional layers. Use the estimator to match your goals and pace.

QUICK ANSWER

Main story about 6–14 hours · Perfect treasures about 14–26 hours

Most players finish the Music Box ending in a long weekend. Collecting every treasure for the Perfect screen roughly doubles that. Full Musical Coins and golf push a completionist save further into the 20-hour range and beyond.

WHAT FILLS THE HOURS

Game scope behind every estimate

Wario Land 3 has fixed scope counts that drive every estimate. They explain why “how long to beat” changes so much once you leave the Music Box path.

Yellow Music Box

Main story clear

Recover Yellow, Blue, Green, Red, and Gold Music Boxes, then defeat the Hidden Figure. Other treasures are only required when they open the next route, ability, or map change.

Lead Overalls

Perfect completion

After the story is cleared, return to the overworld with all 100 treasure bits set. That enters the Perfect screen and enables Time Attack. Musical Coins are tracked separately.

Blue Crayon

Optional layers

200 Musical Coins, seven crayons for the Golf Building, four building courses, and 25 Time Attack records sit outside the main ending requirement.

GOAL COMPARISON

Typical first-play ranges by goal

Use these as planning anchors. A player who follows a recommended treasure order stays near the lower end; free exploration and long stuck points push the upper end.

Goal What you finish Focused Standard Relaxed
Main ending 5 Music Boxes + Hidden Figure 5–8 h 8–12 h 12–16 h
Perfect treasures Main ending + all 100 treasures 11–15 h 16–22 h 22–28 h
Full collectibles Perfect + all 200 Musical Coins 15–20 h 22–30 h 30–38 h
Collectibles + golf Above + crayons and building courses 16–22 h 24–33 h 32–42 h
Plus Time Attack pass Unlock after Perfect, set early records +2–3 h +3–5 h +5–7 h
NSO tip: On Nintendo Switch Online, save states and rewind mainly reduce retry time on tough rooms, golf holes, and boss patterns. They rarely cut the long treasure-routing middle of the game by more than a couple of hours.

DIFFICULTY

Is Wario Land 3 hard?

Platforming is friendlier than many Game Boy Color action games, but navigation is demanding. Time spent stuck almost always comes from progress systems rather than lives or game-over pressure.

1

Low death penalty

Damage usually knocks coins out of Wario. Getting stuck is more common than losing progress. Normal levels emphasize recovery; the Temple can still end a failed attempt and send you back through the game-over sequence.

2

Route difficulty

Map-changing treasures, day/night, abilities, and colored keys decide whether a chest is reachable. That non-linear loop is the main source of length variance.

3

Completion difficulty

Musical Coins and late treasures raise precision and backtracking. Perfect is a checklist grind after the story; full Musical Coins is the longer extra layer.

SESSION PLANNING

Split a long run into clean sessions

1

First 3–5 hours

Clear early North and West routes, grab key abilities such as Lead Overalls and Swim when they open, and learn the chest-color rule. Follow a recommended treasure order if you want a shorter main ending.

2

Middle 5–12 hours

This is the bulk of the Music Box hunt and map-unlock loop. Use the Where-to-Go-Next tool when several levels open at once so you stop wandering empty rooms.

3

Late completion hours

After the story clear, finish missing treasures for Perfect, then Musical Coins and golf if you want the full side package. Time Attack only becomes available after Perfect.

FAQ

How long to beat, difficulty, and completion questions

How long does it take to beat Wario Land 3?

Plan on about 6–14 hours for the main Music Box ending. Players who collect most treasures along the way often land near 12–18 hours before the final fight.

How long to beat Wario Land 3 100%?

All 100 treasures for Perfect commonly take about 14–26 hours total. If your 100% also includes Musical Coins, golf courses, and first Time Attack records, expect the low-to-mid 20s or higher on a relaxed first run.

Is Wario Land 3 beginner friendly?

Yes for controls and recovery. New players mainly need help with progression: chest colors, which treasures change the map, and when to switch day or night. The beginner route and stuck-point tools on this site cover those systems.

Does the main ending require all treasures?

No. The main clear needs the five Music Boxes and the Hidden Figure fight. Perfect completion is a separate return-to-overworld check that requires all 100 treasures after the story is cleared.

Do Musical Coins add a lot of time?

Yes. There are 200 coins, eight per level. They are not needed for Perfect treasure completion, but they meaningfully extend a full collectible run and gate Golf Building Course 4.

Is golf required for any ending?

No. In-level golf doors can gate some routes or coins, but the overworld Golf Building courses are optional side content unlocked with the seven crayons.

How long is Time Attack after Perfect?

A first pass that records a usable best time for every level usually adds a few hours after Perfect unlocks the mode. Competitive medal grinding is open-ended and not part of the estimator’s upper bound.
