Ending and Perfect Completion Explained

Wario Land 3 has a clear main ending and a deeper Perfect path. THE ENDING RULE

Main ending = 5 Music Boxes + Hidden Figure · Perfect = all 100 treasures after clear

Only the five Music Box treasures are required for the story ending. Everything else opens routes and powers that help you reach them. Perfect completion checks all 100 treasure flags after the game is cleared; Musical Coins are a separate track.

REQUIRED VS OPTIONAL

Which treasures matter for the ending?

The story ending only checks the five Music Boxes before the Hidden Figure fight. Route-opening boxes and ability treasures are still useful because they unlock levels and moves you need to reach the remaining boxes.

Treasure Chest Level Ending role Map
Yellow Music Box Gray S1 The Grasslands Required · also opens The Big Bridge Chest map
Blue Music Box Red W4 A Town in Chaos Required · opens Bank of the Wild River and The Tidal Coast Chest map
Green Music Box Gray N6 Sea Turtle Rocks Required · opens Cave of Flames Chest map
Red Music Box Green E1 The Stagnant Swamp Required · opens Beneath the Waves Chest map
Gold Music Box Blue N1 Out of the Woods Required · completes the five-box temple set Chest map
Not required for the story clear: ability treasures, crayons, tablets, Sun Medallion pieces, and Musical Coins. They still matter for access, Perfect completion, golf Course 4, and Time Attack unlock timing.

THREE CLEAR STATES

Main clear, Perfect, and full completionist

Game data stores separate completion tracks. Main story clear flips the cleared mode. Perfect waits until you re-enter the overworld after clear with every treasure flag set. Musical Coins never join that Perfect check.

1

Main story clear

Recover all five Music Boxes and defeat the Hidden Figure. Result: game-cleared mode and the epilogue flow.

2

Perfect completion

After the game is cleared, return to the overworld with all 100 treasures collected. Result: Perfect screen, then Time Attack becomes available.

3

Full completionist

Add all 200 Musical Coins for golf Course 4 and chase Time Attack records by finishing levels while holding Gray, Red, Green, and Blue keys.

True ending language: Guides and players often use “true ending” for the full Music Box recovery plus Hidden Figure clear, or for Perfect when they want every treasure. Use the path buttons above to match the goal you are chasing.

FINAL BOSS

Hidden Figure in the Temple

The Hidden Figure is the final encounter of the main story. After every Music Box is recovered, the Temple fight closes the music-box world and leads into the ending sequence.

Hidden Figure

Hidden Figure · Temple final boss

The fight uses a dedicated two-part music sequence and hand-and-face attack patterns rather than a normal level room layout. Defeat starts the epilogue. For phase timing and form notes, open the full boss strategy page.

FASTEST WAY TO USE THIS PAGE

Turn “almost done” into one next step

1

Pick your path

Choose Main story clear if you only want the ending. Switch to Perfect when every treasure still matters, or Full if Musical Coins and Time Attack are on the list.

2

Mark finished Music Boxes

Filter to Still open, open the missing chest map, and match Day or Night to your overworld clock. Red Music Box needs Variant 2.

3

Finish the Temple fight

When all five boxes are collected, defeat the Hidden Figure. For Perfect, collect remaining treasures and return to the overworld after clear.

FAQ

Ending, Perfect, and Hidden Figure questions

What is required for the Wario Land 3 ending?

Recover all five Music Boxes—Yellow, Blue, Green, Red, and Gold—then defeat the Hidden Figure in the Temple. That sets the game-cleared mode and plays the epilogue.

What is the true ending?

Most players mean the main story clear with every Music Box and the Hidden Figure fight. Others reserve “true ending” or Perfect for the full 100-treasure clear after that fight. Musical Coins are optional either way.

Which treasures are required for the ending?

Only the five Music Boxes are required for the story clear. Other treasures open routes, abilities, and map changes that help you reach those boxes. Perfect completion needs the entire 100-treasure catalog.

Who is the Hidden Figure?

The Hidden Figure is the final boss in the Temple. After you recover the Music Boxes, this fight closes the main story and leads into the ending sequence.

Do Musical Coins count for Perfect?

No. Musical Coins are separate per-level flags. Perfect checks treasure collection after main clear. Coins still unlock Golf Building Course 4 and support full completionist goals.

When does Time Attack unlock?

After Perfect completion: main clear first, then return to the overworld with all 100 treasures. Time Attack records need you to finish a level while holding Gray, Red, Green, and Blue keys.

Does the ending change on Nintendo Switch Online?

No. The English Game Boy Color release on Nintendo Switch Online uses the same five Music Boxes, Hidden Figure clear, Perfect treasure check, and Time Attack unlock rules.
