WARIO LAND 3 GUIDE

Recommended Treasure Order for Beginners

Recommended Treasure Order for Beginners

Wario Land 3 does not force a single path, but some treasures matter far more than others. This beginner route prioritizes map-changing treasures, permanent abilities, and the five Music Boxes so you always have a useful next chest instead of wandering the overworld.

Axe

BEST FIRST TREASURES

Start with the Axe, both Tablets, the Scroll, Lead Overalls, then the Jar

Open the Gray Chest in N1 Out of the Woods for the Axe. Collect the Blue Tablet (N2) and Green Tablet (N3) to reach the West. Finish the scroll halves in W1 Desert Ruins, grab Lead Overalls in W2 for Ground Pound, then take the Jar back in N1 to open the western rain route. Follow the checklist below for the full beginner backbone.

How to use this: check each treasure when you open its chest. Map links open the Room & Target Index for that same-color key and chest. Progress is stored only in this browser and never touches a cartridge, emulator, or Nintendo Switch Online save.

ROUTE PHASES

How the beginner backbone is organized

Each phase opens new overworld connections. When several chests become available at once, take permanent abilities and Music Boxes before pure side treasures.

1. Early North & West

Axe → Tablets → Scroll → Lead Overalls → Jar → Gears. This unlocks Desert Ruins through The Grasslands and teaches the treasure → cutscene → new path loop.

2. South expansion

Yellow Music Box → Skull Rings → Swim / Garlic → Ornamental Fan. Tower of Revival and the first East connection come online here.

3. Mid-game branches

Freeze the sea, play Blue Music Box, open the canyon, trigger the volcano, and clear the Garlic path to Sea Turtle Rocks. Grab and Head Smash land in this block.

4. Late map & ending

Green / Red Music Boxes, Castle of Illusions, East Crater, Forest of Fear, Warped Void, Sky Key, and Gold Music Box finish the main-story set.

PHASE 1 TABLE

These eight events turn a single starting level into the full North–West–South spine.

FAQ

Treasure order questions

What is the best treasure order in Wario Land 3?

There is no single forced order, but the strongest beginner path is Axe → Blue/Green Tablets → Scroll halves → Lead Overalls → Jar → both Gears → Yellow Music Box → Skull Rings, then continue opening map-changing treasures and abilities until all five Music Boxes are collected.

Which treasures should I get first?

Get the Axe first in N1 Out of the Woods. Next grab the Blue Tablet in N2 and the Green Tablet in N3 so the West map opens. Those three treasures turn the non-linear start into a clear westward route.

Which treasures change the map?

Key overworld events include the Axe, both Tablets, the scroll halves, the Jar, both Gears, Music Boxes, Skull Rings, Ornamental Fan, Blue Book + Magic Wand, Trident + Yellow Book, the three volcano pieces, Garlic, Lantern + Magical Flame, Treasure Map, Torch, Warp Compact, and Sky Key. Mark them in the checklist to track what each one opens.

Which treasures are required for the ending?

The main story ending requires the five Music Boxes and the Hidden Figure fight. Everything else is either a route opener, ability upgrade, or optional collectible. Perfect completion needs all 100 treasures.

Do I need every chest before moving on?

No. If a Red, Green, or Blue route is blocked by an ability or day/night state, leave it and take the next map-changing Gray Chest. Return later when the flashing level or new ability makes the route simple.

Does this guide cover Game Boy Color and Nintendo Switch Online?

Yes. Treasure progression and overworld unlocks match the English World release on Game Boy Color and the Game Boy library version on Nintendo Switch Online.
