What to grab first in Goldenrod
Map Card early, then Goldenrod cluster: finish the Cherrygrove tour for the Map Card, grab the free Bicycle and Radio Card in Goldenrod, beat Whitney, then collect SquirtBottle to clear Sudowoodo on Route 36. Coin Case is optional for Game Corner prizes in the Underground. Pokégear itself is given at home at the start of the game.

Common key-item questions
Is the Bicycle free?
Yes. The Goldenrod Bike Shop clerk loans it when you agree to advertise. There is no purchase price in original Gold/Silver.
Do Map / Radio / EXPN cards go in the bag?
No. They are Pokégear upgrades (engine flags), not Key Item pocket entries. This checklist still tracks them because players search for them the same way.
When do I get both legendary wings?
Your version mascot wing comes from the Radio Tower Director. The opposite wing comes from the Pewter City elder after you reach Kanto. See the legendary hub.
Is Clear Bell / Tidal Bell in Gold & Silver?
Those story bells are Crystal-focused. Original Gold/Silver use Rainbow Wing and Silver Wing for tower access instead.
Where is the Coin Case?
Goldenrod Underground item ball at tile (7, 25). Needed for Game Corner prizes; also mentioned in glitch guides—use the Celebi / Coin Case page for exploit warnings.
Do I need Super Rod for the story?
No. Super Rod is optional completion gear on Route 12. Story fishing never requires it; Old Rod and Good Rod cover casual use.
