The Vast Plain Walkthrough and Checklist

The Vast Plain Walkthrough and Checklist

The Vast Plain (N3) opens with N2 after the Axe cuts the North tree. Use the finder below for every Gray, Red, Green, and Blue chest, all eight Musical Coins, and exact room-map links for Day/Night plus each map variant—starting with the Gray Chest Green Tablet that opens the West with N2’s Blue Tablet.

Green Tablet

FIRST CLEAR PRIORITY

Open the Gray Chest for the Green Tablet, then push west with N2

Carry the Gray Key to the Gray Chest and take the Green Tablet. Pair it with the Blue Tablet from N2 The Peaceful Village to open the West map into W1 Desert Ruins. On the same early pass you can snag the Blue Crayon Red Chest for Golf Building progress, then return later for the Red Skull Ring and Red Gem.

WEST GATE · GRAY CHEST

Green Tablet from The Vast Plain

Green Tablet

Green Tablet

The Gray Key and Gray Chest both sit in the large early plain room family—rooms 0, 16, 17, 18, 19, 22, 25, and 26 depending on map state. Collecting this treasure is only half of the North → West event.

You also need the Blue Tablet from N2 The Peaceful Village Gray Chest. Holding both tablets opens the overworld route into W1 Desert Ruins.

Open Gray Chest map → · Peaceful Village Blue Tablet guide → · Map-changing treasures →

1

Collect both tablets

N2 Gray Chest for Blue Tablet, N3 Gray Chest for Green Tablet. Order between N2 and N3 does not matter.

2

Leave to the overworld

Exit the level so the North → West gate updates. Desert Ruins becomes reachable on the West map.

3

Push into W1

Clear scroll halves in Desert Ruins next if you are following the beginner treasure order toward Lead Overalls.

TOWER ROUTE · GREEN CHEST

Red Skull Ring and the Tower of Revival

Red Skull Ring

Red Skull Ring

Find the Green Key in rooms 7, 10, 20, or 21, then open the Green Chest in room 9. The Red Skull Ring is one half of the pair that raises S3 Tower of Revival.

The other half is the Blue Skull Ring from W3 The Pool of Rain Red Chest. Collect both before you expect the Tower path beyond The Big Bridge to appear.

MUSICAL COINS · MUSIC COINS

All 8 Musical Coins in The Vast Plain

Every level has eight Musical Coins. They are not required for the Perfect treasure screen, but finishing all 200 coins across the game unlocks Golf Building Course 4. Room numbers match the Day layout. On your first visit you can usually grab seven; Musical Coin 5 only shows up after Magic Seeds change the layout to Variant 3.

ENEMIES · PLAIN HAZARDS

Creatures you will meet in The Vast Plain

N3 has no boss arena. The plain mixes walking enemies, transformation pressure, and day/night swaps—so keep the Day or Night Spell from N2 handy for clean-up visits.

Para Goom Para-Goom Common early plain walker on open routes
Spearhead Spearhead Pointed hazard in mid-plain room sets
Mad Scienstein Mad Scienstein Transformation pressure on side routes
Zombie Zombie Night layout enemy on revisit sweeps
Tip: Night swaps some enemy sets and room connections. If a day path feels empty or blocked after you flip the clock, you are on the other layout—use the finder Map time control so links match.

MAP VARIANTS · DAY & NIGHT

When The Vast Plain layout changes

N3 has four progression variants on both Day and Night. Variant 1 is available from the start after the Axe opens the North map. Later variants open after you collect specific treasures elsewhere:

Variant Requirements Notes Map
V1 None Default first visit. Grab Green Tablet and Blue Crayon here. Open Day map
V2 Lead Overalls (W2 Gray Chest) Ground Pound revisit layout for extra routes. Open Day map
V3 Magic Seeds (S2 Gray Chest) Adds the eighth Musical Coin marker set (Coin 5). Open Day map
V4 Blue Chemical + Red Chemical Late-game layout after both chemicals are collected. Open Day map
100% tip: Do not force every N3 coin on the first visit. Take the Green Tablet, open the West, and return with Magic Seeds when you are hunting the last Musical Coin.

FIRST VISIT ROUTE

What to do in The Vast Plain on a new file

1

Gray Key → Green Tablet

Hunt the Gray Key in the early plain room family, open the Gray Chest, and leave with the Green Tablet.

2

Confirm Blue Tablet + West

If you already hold N2’s Blue Tablet, exit to the overworld and enter W1 Desert Ruins. Grab Blue Crayon if the Red route is free.

3

Revisit for 100%

Come back for Red Skull Ring, Red Gem, Musical Coins, and later variants after Lead Overalls, Magic Seeds, or the chemicals unlock extra layouts.

FAQ

The Vast Plain FAQ

How do I open The Vast Plain?

Finish the Gray Chest in N1 Out of the Woods for the Axe. The Axe cuts the overworld tree and unlocks N2 The Peaceful Village and N3 The Vast Plain together.

Where is the Green Tablet?

Gray Chest in The Vast Plain. The Gray Key and Gray Chest appear in rooms 0, 16, 17, 18, 19, 22, 25, and 26 depending on map state. Pair it with the Blue Tablet from N2 to open Desert Ruins.

What does the Red Skull Ring do?

The Green Chest holds the Red Skull Ring. Together with the Blue Skull Ring from W3 The Pool of Rain, it raises S3 Tower of Revival beyond The Big Bridge. One ring alone does not open the tower.

Where is the Blue Crayon?

Red Chest in rooms 11 / 23. It is one of the seven crayons used for Golf Building courses. See the Golf unlock guide for the full crayon list and door locations.

Why am I missing a Musical Coin in The Vast Plain?

On the default layout you can usually only collect seven Musical Coins. Coin 5 in rooms 7, 10, 20, and 21 appears after Magic Seeds open Variant 3. Set the finder to V3 and open the Musical Coins map.

Is Red Gem required for the ending?

No. The Blue Chest Red Gem is a collectible for the full 100-treasure Perfect screen. The main story ending needs the five Music Boxes; Perfect and Time Attack are post-story goals.
