Fast Answer

What “gift” means here

This page covers Pokemon you receive from NPCs, prize counters, or fossil revival—not ordinary grass or water encounters. Permanent exclusive choices: Helix vs Dome in Mt. Moon, and Hitmonlee vs Hitmonchan at the Fighting Dojo. Starters have their own deep guide; they appear in the checklist so one run can track everything.

Permanent FOMO

Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan?

Clear every Blackbelt and the Karate Master in the Fighting Dojo (Saffron City, west of the gym). Two Poké Balls appear—taking one sets events for both gifts, so the other disappears forever on that save. Both gifts are level 30.

Pick if you want: raw kick power, higher Speed, Mega Kick / Hi Jump Kick path. Great for Normal and Rock walls once trained.

  • Starts with Double Kick + Meditate
  • Learns Rolling Kick 33, Jump Kick 38, Hi Jump Kick 48
  • Weaker Defense and no elemental coverage

Pick if you want: Fire / Ice / Electric punches for coverage while still hitting as Fighting. Slightly bulkier on Defense.

  • Starts with Agility + Comet Punch
  • Fire Punch 33, Ice Punch 38, Thunderpunch 43
  • Lower Attack and Speed than Hitmonlee

Practical tip: if you already run Primeape or Machoke, either gift is optional. If you need a dedicated Fighting mon without trading for Machamp, either works—Chan is more flexible in gym type matchups; Lee hits harder into pure physical walls.

Eevee

Eevee · Lv. 25

GiftCeladon Mansion
  • Use the rear entrance of Celadon Mansion (not only the front lobby path).
  • Climb to the roof, enter the small house, take the Poké Ball.
  • One-time gift; leave party/PC space open.
  • Stones on Celadon Mart 4F cost ₽2,100 each: Water → Vaporeon, Thunder → Jolteon, Fire → Flareon.

Which evolution?

  • Jolteon — blistering Speed; strong with Thunderbolt coverage later.
  • Vaporeon — huge HP bulk; Surf carrier candidate with Lapras as alternative.
  • Flareon — high Attack, but Gen 1 Fire special damage can feel awkward; still fine for story.

The Rival’s Eevee path is separate—your gift Eevee does not change his Jolteon / Flareon / Vaporeon branch. Track his path in the Mechanics Lab and Walkthrough.

Silph Co.

How to get Lapras

Lapras

Lapras · Lv. 15

GiftSilph Co. 7FWater / Ice
  • During the Team Rocket takeover, talk to the Silph employee on 7F.
  • He gives Lapras once per save—you cannot receive a second Lapras from him.
  • Excellent early Water/Ice body: Sing, Body Slam, Ice Beam later—perfect vs Dragonite and Ground threats.
  • Can learn Surf via HM; pairs well with the best-team and HM plans.

Progress gate

You need access to Saffron and Silph (Card Key path). Bring status healing—Rocket and Rival fights pack the building. After the gift, continue toward the president and Giovanni floor objectives in the walkthrough.

Game Corner economy

Where to get Porygon (and other prizes)

Celadon Game Corner Prize Room uses Yellow’s prize table (not Red/Blue’s). Porygon costs 9,999 coins and arrives at level 26. You need the Coin Case (Celadon Diner gift) before machines and prizes work.

Prize Coins Level Notes
Abra 230 15 Cheap Psychic seed; trade path to Alakazam later.
Vulpix 1,000 18 Yellow-friendly Fire option; Fire Stone → Ninetales.
Wigglytuff 2,680 22 Already fully evolved; bulky Normal.
Scyther 6,500 30 Also appears in Safari; prize skips the grind.
Pinsir 6,500 30 Same coin tier as Scyther.
Porygon 9,999 26 Dex completion staple; Conversion + Recover later.

Mt. Moon → Cinnabar

Fossil Pokemon: Omanyte, Kabuto, Aerodactyl

Omanyte

Helix Fossil → Omanyte

Rock / WaterRevive Lv. 30

Choose Helix on Mt. Moon B2F. Higher Special than Kabuto; evolves to Omastar.

Kabuto

Dome Fossil → Kabuto

Rock / WaterRevive Lv. 30

Choose Dome on Mt. Moon B2F. Higher Attack/Speed; evolves to Kabutops with Slash crits.

Aerodactyl

Old Amber → Aerodactyl

Rock / FlyingRevive Lv. 30

After obtaining HM01 Cut, cut the tree beside Pewter Museum and enter the side door to reach the 1F back room for Old Amber. It is independent of the Mt. Moon choice, but a clean single save can revive only Omanyte or Kabuto, plus Aerodactyl—not all three fossil lines.

Bring any fossil to the Cinnabar Lab Fossil Room scientist. He takes the item, asks you to walk around while it revives, then hands over the Pokemon at level 30. You can revive multiple fossils across visits (one process at a time).

Play tips

Don’t soft-lock a gift

Party and PC space

Every GivePokemon call fails if your party is full and boxes are full. Deposit something first.

Dojo and fossil FOMO

Hitmonlee/Hitmonchan and Helix/Dome are permanent exclusive picks. Old Amber is independent.

Not gifts

Snorlax, legendaries, and most wild exclusives are static or grass encounters—use Catch Planner and map markers.
