Oak’s Aide Reward

How to get Exp. All in Pokemon Yellow

Own 50 species in the Pokédex, climb Route 15 Gate 2F, and talk to Professor Oak’s aide. Exp. All is a one-time gift: keep it in the bag to share battle experience with the whole party (Gen 1 split rules apply).

Fast Answer

50 owned → Route 15 Gate upstairs

Check the Pokédex Owned count (not Seen). When it hits 50, go to Route 15 (east of Fuchsia / west of Route 14), enter the gate, take the stairs to 2F, and talk to Oak’s aide for Exp. All. Leave it in the bag—menu “use” does nothing useful. Deposit it in the PC if you want full experience on your lead again.

Exp. All split calculator

Yellow halves the exp data when Exp. All is in the bag, awards that half to participants, then awards the other half to every party member. Fainted mons get nothing.

Each bench mon (with Exp. All)

Play tips

When to carry Exp. All

Bag slot is the on/off switch

Exp. All is not a “use item.” Presence in the bag enables the split; the PC turns it off. It is not a key item—manage bag space intentionally.

Large parties dilute the lead

With six mons and one fighter, the lead gets about 58% of a normal solo KO. Deposit Exp. All for gyms, Elite Four, or strict level caps.

Great for HM mons & backups

Bench Cut/Surf carriers and evolving babies gain passive exp. Pair with the HM slaves guide and Team Planner.

Stat Experience still applies

Gen 1 Stat Exp is also split under Exp. All’s halved pot. For targeted training, see the Stat Experience lab.

FAQ

Exp. All questions

Where is Exp. All in Pokemon Yellow?

Route 15 Gate 2F from Oak’s aide after you own 50 species.

Why won’t the aide give it to me?

Owned count is below 50, bag is full, or you already received it on this save.

Does “Seen” count?

No. The species must be owned (caught, gifted, evolved into, traded in, etc.).

Should I keep Exp. All forever?

Keep it for grinding benches; remove it for boss fights or when one mon needs every exp point.

Is this the same as modern Exp. Share?

No. Gen 1 Exp. All uses the halved double-pass split above and only works from the bag.
